ThinkPad P1 Gen 2 vs Dell Precision — Same Workstation, Half the Price, Better Display
The Dell Precision 7540 is the ThinkPad P1 Gen 2's direct competitor — both are 15.6" enterprise workstations with Xeon processors, Quadro GPUs, and ISV certifications. In Pakistan, the Dell Precision 7540 sells new for 500,000-650,000 PKR. The ThinkPad P1 Gen 2 sells for 175,000 PKR. The specs are nearly identical. The display is dramatically different. This guide compares them honestly — spec by spec. WhatsApp us to see the ThinkPad.

Same Xeon processor. Same Quadro T2000 GPU. The ThinkPad has twice the RAM, twice the storage, a dramatically better display (OLED 4K touch vs IPS FHD non-touch), is 900g lighter, 11.6mm thinner, has a better keyboard, more security features — and costs 375,000 PKR less.
Where Dell Precision Wins
- New condition: The Dell is brand new. The ThinkPad is enterprise-refurbished.
- Full warranty: The Dell has a full 3-year ProSupport warranty from the date of purchase. The ThinkPad has remaining Premier Support.
- Better sustained cooling: The Dell's 29mm thickness allows thicker heatsinks. Under extreme sustained loads (30+ minute Cinebench), the Dell runs 3-5°C cooler.
But for the 375,000 PKR price difference, you can buy the ThinkPad, upgrade the RAM to 64GB (25k), add a 2TB SSD (35k), replace the battery (8k), replace the keyboard (10k), and still have 297,000 PKR left over — enough for a second ThinkPad.
