Hunza Valley Travel Guide 2026 — The Complete Guide to Pakistan’s Most Beautiful Valley
Hunza Valley is Pakistan's most famous travel destination — and for good reason. Snow-capped peaks, terraced fields, cherry blossoms in spring, golden poplars in autumn, 800-year-old forts, and some of the most welcoming people in the world. This guide covers everything you need to plan a Hunza trip in 2026 — from how to get there to what to eat. WhatsApp us for Hunza trip planning.
How to Reach Hunza
Hunza is in Gilgit-Baltistan, approximately 600 km from Islamabad. Two options:
- By road (Karakoram Highway): 14-16 hours from Islamabad. Recommended for the scenery — the KKH is one of the world's great drives. Stop overnight in Naran or Chilas.
- By air (PIA to Gilgit): 1-hour flight from Islamabad. Then 2.5-hour drive to Karimabad. Flights are weather-dependent (cancellations common in winter). See our domestic flights guide.
What to See in Hunza
- Karimabad: The main town. Baltit Fort (700 years old, museum inside), Altit Fort (older, beautifully restored), Duikar viewpoint (sunset over Rakaposhi).
- Attabad Lake: Turquoise lake formed by a 2010 landslide. Boating, jet ski. 30 minutes from Karimabad.
- Passu: Passu Cones (iconic cathedral peaks), Hussaini Suspension Bridge (not for the faint-hearted), Borith Lake.
- Ganish Village: 1,000-year-old village with ancient watchtowers and mosques.
- Eagle's Nest (Duikar): The best sunset viewpoint in Hunza. Stay overnight for stargazing.
Best Time to Visit Hunza
