Best Travel Credit Cards in Pakistan 2026 — Lounge Access, Miles & Foreign Currency

    Editorial

If you travel internationally more than twice a year, the right credit card can pay for itself within months — and the wrong one can quietly drain 5% to 7% of every dollar you spend through hidden foreign transaction fees. Most Pakistani travellers do not realise this, because local banks do not market their cards with travel perks as aggressively as international banks do. Yet several Pakistani-issued cards now offer airport lounge access, miles conversion, zero foreign transaction fees, and free travel insurance worth tens of thousands of rupees.

This guide compares the cards worth considering in 2026, explains what each perk is actually worth, and points out the catches the banks do not mention in their brochures. We are not paid by any of these banks — these are the cards we ourselves carry and the ones we recommend to clients who book international packages through us.

Why a Travel Credit Card Beats a Debit Card Abroad

When you swipe a Pakistani debit card abroad, your bank typically charges you a 4% to 5% foreign transaction fee plus a flat cross-border charge of 200 to 500 PKR per transaction. The Visa or Mastercard network adds another 1% to 2% on top. By the time you are done, a $100 restaurant bill can cost you 32,000 PKR instead of the 28,000 PKR the exchange rate would suggest.

A good travel credit card waives the foreign transaction fee entirely, gives you the interbank exchange rate (which is usually 1% to 2% better than what money changers offer), and adds travel benefits on top. Over a 10-day trip with 30 card transactions, the savings alone can exceed 15,000 to 20,000 PKR.

The Best Travel Credit Cards in Pakistan 2026

    1. Standard Chartered Platinum & Visa Infinite Credit Card
Annual fee: 7,500 to 12,000 PKR (waived for the first year on most variants)
Lounge access: 8 free international visits per quarter (Priority Pass network, 1,000+ lounges worldwide)
Foreign transaction fee: 2.5% (lower than most Pakistani banks)
Travel insurance: Up to $50,000 cover
Why we like it: The most generous lounge program in Pakistan, hands down. Eight visits per quarter means up to 32 free visits a year. If you fly even once a quarter, this card pays for itself in lounge access alone.

    2. HBL Platinum Credit Card
    Annual fee: 5,000 PKR
Lounge access: 4 free international visits per quarter (Mastercard Airport Experiences)
    Foreign transaction fee: 3.5%
Why we like it: The cheapest annual fee on this list, with surprisingly good acceptance across the GCC and UK. A solid first travel card for someone who flies 2 to 3 times a year.

    3. Faysal Bank World Mastercard
    Annual fee: 7,500 PKR
Lounge access: 6 free visits per quarter (Mastercard Airport Experiences by DragonPass)
    Foreign transaction fee: 3%
Why we like it: Lower foreign transaction fee than HBL, better lounge access. Faysal also has reliable WhatsApp-based customer service, which matters when you are stuck at a foreign airport at 2am.

    4. Meezan Bank Visa Signature Credit Card
    Annual fee: 8,500 PKR
Lounge access: 8 free international visits per year
    Foreign transaction fee: 2.75%
Why we like it: Meezan is fully Shariah-compliant, which makes this the strongest travel card for customers who want Islamic banking. The lounge network is smaller than Standard Chartered's, but the lower fee structure compensates.

    5. Bank Alfalah Visa Infinite & Mastercard World Elite
    Annual fee: 10,000 PKR
Lounge access: 6 to 10 visits per quarter depending on variant
    Foreign transaction fee: 3%
Why we like it: Best reward points program among Pakistani cards — 1 Alfalah Reward Point per 50 PKR, convertible to Etihad, Emirates, and Qatar Airways miles. If you fly Middle Eastern carriers regularly, the miles are worth more than the lounge access.

What the Banks Do Not Tell You

Every bank markets "free travel insurance" and "free lounge access", but the small print is where the truth lives. Here are the catches we have learned the hard way:

    • Travel insurance is rarely primary cover. It usually pays out only after your personal travel insurance has been exhausted. Treat it as a backup, not a replacement. We still recommend buying standalone travel insurance — see our guide on why travel insurance is not optional for Pakistanis.
    • Lounge visits are per person, not per card. If you bring a guest, that counts as two visits.
    • Cash advances abroad are punished. Most banks charge 3% to 4% fee plus interest from day one (no grace period). Never use your credit card at a foreign ATM. Withdraw from your debit card instead.
    • Annual fees are negotiable. After your first year, call customer service and ask them to waive the fee. About 60% of the time, they will.

    One Honest Recommendation

If you only want one card, get the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite if you fly more than four times a year (the lounge access alone is worth it), or the HBL Platinum if you fly two to three times a year and want something simple. Both pair well with our complete guide on when to book international flights from Pakistan — booking at the right time can save you more than any credit card ever will.

    Standing with Palestine

We stand with Palestine. A portion of every booking we process is donated to verified humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza and the West Bank. Justice anywhere is justice everywhere.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I get a credit card without a salary account in Pakistan?
A: Yes, against a fixed deposit. Meezan and Faysal both offer secured cards against FDs of 100,000 PKR or more.

Q: Are Pakistani credit cards accepted abroad?
A: Yes, anywhere Visa or Mastercard is accepted. UnionPay is rare. American Express is barely accepted.

Q: Should I notify the bank before travelling?
A: Yes. Most Pakistani banks block international transactions unless you enable them through the app or call customer service.
